The LionsXII got the Jalan Besar Stadium shaking when they pounced as early as the second minute. Khairul Amri received a freekick by Baihakki Khaizan, and with a powerful strike, brought the home crowd onto their feet. The LionsXII were caught offside several times as Fandi Ahmad's team played their defence on a very high line. Chance after chance, the LionsXII were unable to get a second. This win has sent the LionsXII to the top of group A, with Johor FC behind on goal difference. Sundramoorthy's charges are with a group-stage game yet to be played against PKNS FC, who have drawed two and lost two of their games.
