Gunners gun down Spurs

Arsenal 5-2 Tottenham
English Premier League
a report by FootballMania

Both teams needed a win. The Spurs had lost four of their past five Premier League matches, while Arsenal had experienced an uninspiring start to the season. One man decided to make use of this meeting to stay in a life of infamy. Yes, it's the man who punched Frank Lampard back in 2007. Yes, it's the man who ran the length of the pitch to celebrate a goal against his former club, the club he played against on Sunday. Emmanuel Adebayor, also known as "baby-Kanu". But unlike his childhood idol Nwankwo Kanu, the former Arsenal star managed to get a red card playing against the Gunners. His high tackle on Santi Carzola, though so elegant when played in slow motion with classical music, was a senseless one. And just so he could see the red of Arsenal again, Howard Webb produced the red card, sending him off just seven minutes after the Togolese scored.

With 10 men left, Tottenham's performance went into a downward spiral, and the Gunners capitalised on that, scoring through Per Mertesacker, Lucas Podolski,  Olivier Giroud and Carzola. Theo Walcott provided the pace, and was a pest to the Tottenham defence. However, Gareth Bale made a charge forward, and finished with a right-footed shot. 4-2.

Walcott fought hard to make sure Arsenal stayed in the lead, and got his reward 1 minute into extra time, when Alex Chamberlain who came on for Giroud played the pass, leaving Walcott to drill it home. 5-2, with the cherry on top.
