I WATCHED SECTION
Liverpool won 1-0 on Saturday night, and all Liverpool fans, like me,
must have went to bed happily. I turned on the TV at 9pm and the
match started. In the first half, Liverpool Greek defender Kyrjiakos was sent
off for a two-footed challenge on Marouane Fellani. Everton did not take advantage
of the sending off, I was shocked. The first half was not very exciting and it ended
with a score of 0-0. Early after the break, a nice corner kick from Reds skipper
Steven Gerrard was headed in by Dutch foward Kuyt. Everton goalkeeper Howard
kept pushing Kuyt and when the ball was descending, Kuyt headed it in and
Howard did not have enough time to react. Steven Pienaar of Everton was sent off
in the dying minutes of the match for a challenge against Steven Gerrard,
receiving his second yellow card. Everton had some chances after the red-card
when David Moyes sent Yakubu and Aiyegbeni for Saha and Osman, hoping to
get an equaliser. Yakubu did not seem very effective at first, but he got
a few strikes when the game was ending. Everton needed Fellani to make plays.
Rafael Benitez described it as a "massive" win and praised foward Kuyt. Liverpool are
quite likely to end the season in the top four if they continue to win their next few
matches, one against young footballers Arsenal.
