ON Tuesday, September 6, at the Jalan Besar Stadium, the S-League game between the Young Lions and Bejing GuoAn was abandoned in the 89th minute when a fight broke out. Both teams had score a goal each, so the score was 1-1. The first fight broke out in the 84th minute, and the Young Lions equalised after it, but then. a tackle on a Young Lions player in midfield saw the game decline physically into a bench-clearing brawl involving ALL the players. Some members of the public also joined in the fight! Before the fight started, a Beijing GuoAn player was seen making sarcastic gestures to the crowd when he was being substituted. A Football Association of Singapore spokesman said after the game in a statement, "FAS takes a serious view of this gross misconduct of the players. We are conducting an investigation into this matter and the perpetrator will be dealth with severely." The Young Lions have been selected to take part in the Asian Games in November in Guangzhou.
