Preview Article for Manchester Utd v Manchester City
(October 23, 2011)
Frankly, I really couldn't think about a good title for this post about tonight's game between the two Manchester clubs. Therefore, quite shamefully, I simply named this post after the cities both clubs stand in - Manchester.
Manchester is big, perhaps so big, it has two football clubs. These two football clubs can be considered big too. Manchester is divided by these two big clubs. Between these two big clubs, there is a big rivalry. And this big rivalry will be exhibited in tonight's big game.
With Carlos Tevez banished, City might lack some attacking power, but they still have the in-form Sergio Aguero who can produce the goals. They have a sound defense this season, and a midfield with the reliable Gareth Barry.
United have a reliable back-four in Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, and Chris Smalling. However, the statistics show that City have the better defence. In their first eight league games this season, Mancini's side have limited opponents to 59 shots, the best in the league.
It will be an exciting game, an intense game, a Manchester derby. Which club will be the real Manchester club?
