Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle United
Newcastle Utd scored the opener at Anfield after a cross from Ryan Taylor was shot by teammate Yohan Cabaye. Daniel Agger deflected the shot into his own net. However, Liverpool got the equaliser a few minutes later through Craig Bellamy. In the second half, Steven Gerrard made his return and came on as a substitute for Charlie Adam. Gerrard created great crosses to Andy Carroll, who was unable to convert. One chance hit the woodwork, but it did not mark the end of Liverpool's scoring. Craig Bellamy got his second goal when he scored directly from a free kick, swerving the ball. Gerrard rolled in Liverpool's third goal to the Liverpool fans' delight.
