NEWS:
The pair (Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun) recover
from injury as their Rafael Benitez welcomes them back.
They both made substitute appearances in the goaless
draw at Eastlands on Sunday night. It was a result
that did little to improve either sides Champions League
aspirations. With Tottenham in 4th place after their win against
Wigan on Sunday, and with Aston Villa's thrashing of Burnley,
Liverpool and Manchester City will have to fight a tough battle
to reserve a spot in the UEFA Champions League. The sight
of Torres on the pitch after a month on the sidelines will surely,
well, to me, provide a BIG boost for Liverpool.
Liverpool and Manchester City had to settle for a point each
at Eastlands on Sunday, with a goaless draw that did little
to improve either side's UEFA hopes and aspirations.
Pepe Reina's smart save to deny Emmanuel Adebayor
represented the biggest thrill of a miserable afternoon. Gerrard
had the visitor's best chance when he took a corner kick, but
Martin Skrtel headed it wide of the far post. It was a miserable
match for both teams, as they battle each other to be in 4th place.
Match Quotes: Rafael Benitez said, "It was a difficult game, we
didn't have clear chances, they didn't have clear chances, but we
had more possession and but for the pass in the final third it could
have been different. I felt today both teams were defending well and
were well organized."
